A series of improvisations interweaving socialist
themes from the last one hundred years or so.
Think of the album as one long composition: a
composition in ten movements; each movement
reflecting and repeating the improvised concerns
of its others, ever differently. Musical ideas flow
free of notions of fixity, of stasis; a theme taken up
is not an indication of a desire to return to the
politics of the past, but a clarion call for change: a
movement dedicated to the possibility of better
ways of practising socialism, of practising music.
We’ll keep the Red Flag flying.
